Test results gaming

Our selection of games is no longer the latest (and will be replaced in the near future), but has the advantage that the performance is stable and therefore no longer influenced by driver updates or patches, and that it scales well chip and GPU improvements, in addition to running smoothly.

In this and all other charts, the Asus ROG Strix Scar II can be recognised by a red bar, the Hero II by a green bar, other models with a GTX 1060 by a blue bar and if they feature a GTX 1070, by a black bar.

Metro Last Light

Metro Last Light at Full HD, the native resolution of the screen, can be played on medium at the native refresh rate of the same screen on both machines - or close enough. With higher quality settings and resolutions, the faster video card model stands out positively, but with the GTX 1060s, Hero II is the best - and even playable frame rates are achieved at UHD Medium.

Far Cry Primal

In Far Cry Prima we get similar results - though here the Hero II can compete with the GTX 1070's, but that's more likely because the other 1070's were cpu-limited here. The Scar II shows that that card has more to offer. At UHD Ultra the Hero II falls back a bit, we do not really know why.

  • Full HD high

Grand Theft Auto V

GTA 5 at Full HD is CPU limited, especially on normal settings. So we'll leave those results for what they are, instead we'd rather play at UHD with 90.6 fps (Hero II) or 114 fps (Scar II). Even with high quality settings, the Scar II achieves more than 60 fps.

  • Ultra HD normal
