Routers that cost more than 220 pounds/290 dollars

In our last category, we have two routers that stand out from the pack. If you want to buy a beastly router at a relatively low price, you can't get around the Archer C5400 from TP-Link. The average price according to our Price Comparison is 315 dollars. For that amount you get a tri-band router with a dizzying 1000 Mbit/s at 2.4 GHz with twice 2166 Mbit/s at 5 GHz, which corresponds to 5334 Mbit/s in total. In addition, there is support for things like MU-MIMO, smartconnect, beamforming and 1024-QAM. The performance shows that this is not a false promise, where the C5400 ends up in five of the seven parts in the top 4.

Do you simply want the maximum of what 802.11ac wave 2 has to offer? Then you want the D-Link DIR-895L. This router costs an average of 420 dollars and, just like the C5400, is a tri-band router with support for MU-MIMO, smart connect, beamforming and 1024-QAM. The router has a total Wi-Fi speed of 5334 Mbit/s and distributes it over 1000 Mbit/s at 2.4 GHz and 4334 Mbit/s at 5 GHz. The device has a striking design, which can probably count on both positive and negative responses, although we like to leave the judgement to you. The DIR-895L manages to win first place on no less than four of the seven parts and adds another silver medal by the way. In this context, the Asus RoG Rapture GT-AC5300 deserves an honourable mention. The Rapture is just a bit more expensive than the 895L but performs almost as well across the board.
