Kingston HyperX Cloud II & Revolver
Kingstons HyperX Cloud II is little more than the Cloud with a usb sound card, but the price has not risen dramatically. In terms of comfort - with the choice of two ear cushions - this headset is still a favourite and so is the audio quality. It's more fit for music than gaming, but the closed design produces a sufficient and tight bass, as to also be able to keep up with the competition in a shooter. After the Cloud, Kingston faced a major challenge, namely to deliver such a succesful product again.
That was to be the Revolver, a high end headset that was said to have been developed in-house. Unfortunately, that one was a bit disappointing when we discussed it; the construction quality lagged behind that of the Cloud and also the sound quality couldn't appeal to us enough. Even when listening again, the disappointing bass is striking, which is a shortcoming for games. Meanwhile, the price of the Revolver has dropped a lot, it's available for a mere 98 dollars and on average it costs only 122 dollars. However, that is still more expensive than the Cloud II, in light of which we regard the Cloud II as the clear winner.
