GeForce GTX 1050 & 1050 Ti low-profile round-up: HTPC cards

The best GPU for your home cinema

Today we're looking at three GTX 1050/1050 Tis. All of them are low-profile case, which means that they will fit in even the smallest of cases. This test includes models from Gigabyte, KFA2 and MSI.

Most cases that only have space for low-profile cards are generally flat classic desktops. Examples are media center cases made by e.g. Silverstone and Shuttle, as their appearance mimics that of an audio amplifier. You're generally limited in height when building in cases like this and low-profile cards are the solution to this problem.

KFA2 GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC LP 4GB
KFA2 sent their affordable GTX 1050 Ti OC LP for this test.

The GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti are also interesting for this purpose because they are the cheapest GPUs that fully support H.265-decoding, HDMI 2.0 and other features that you'd want from a HTPC in 2017. Therefore it's not weird that manufacturers are releasing low-profile variants from these GPUs. Gigabyte, KFA2 and MSI sent us their models for this test.

On the next page we'll take a closer look at the low-profile GTX 1050 (Ti)s. Gigabyte sent us their GTX 1050 OC, which is the cheapest model in this test, at about 160 pounds. KFA2 offers a GTX 1050 Ti for 15 dollars more, while the MSI GTX 1050 Ti LP is the most expensive participant in this test, with an average price of about 200 dollars.
