We learned in our recent interview with MSI's Ted Hung that the Taiwanese motherboard manufacturer considers gamers as one of the most import target groups. Hung, who heads up MSI's motherboard division, spoke of a trend of affordable gaming motherboards. A good example of this is MSI's Z87M Gaming, a Micro ATX motherboard. We tested it and compared it to 44 other Haswell motherboards.
Gamers are increasingly realising that you don't need a Full ATX motherboard to build a powerful gaming PC. The Z87M Gaming has all the features a gamer could want and you can even use two graphics cards in SLI or Crossfire.
The MSI Z87M Gaming costs around £120 / €161 and competes against boards such as the Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5 and ASUS Maximus VI Gene. The ASUS Micro ATX board is slightly more expensive.
