Cooler Master TPC-612 review: cheaper TPC-800 CPU cooler

Compared to 36 other CPU coolers

Late last year Cooler Master surprised friend and foe alike with the TPC-800, a CPU cooler with six heatpipes and a Vertical Vapor Chamber (basically a large, flattened heatpipe). The TPC-800 cooled really well, and combined with the right fan it was very quiet. It made such a good impression we gave the TPC-800 the Hardware.Info Gold Award at the time.

The TPC-800 had one drawback, the price. An average of € 56 or £47 isn't very cheap, and you also have to buy a fan for it. So Cooler Master created a more affordable version of the TPC-800, one that does come with a fan.

The TPC-612 will be available in June, and Cooler Master doesn't have any pricing information save that "it will be cheaper than the TPC-800". A pre-production model was sent to us for testing.

The TPC-612 is a bit smaller than the TPC-800. The cooling block is smaller, the vapor chamber is smaller and there are six instead of eight heatpipes. And, the TPC-612 comes with a fan, a 120 mm model with rifle bearings that can turn between 600 and 2000 rpm. The fan has a 4-pin PWM connector. There's space for a second fan. The TPC-612 is compatible with all current sockets, including 1155, 2011, 939 and FM2. Cooler Master includes cooling paste as well.
