Gigabyte has launched a new micro-site, called 'Game it, Live it', where its posts features of its gaming motherboards. The site shows two new Sniper models, of which the G1.Sniper Z5S has already received its own product page.
The Z87-motherboards feature a Creative Sound Core3D chip, interchangeable headphone amplifier and Qualcomm Atheros Killer E2201 Gigabit network chip. Gigabyte has applied its Ultra Durable 4 Plus principle. The board has four DDR3 memory slots, 6x USB 3.0, 7x USB 2.0, six SATA 6 Gbit/s connectors and 7.1 HD audio. These features were also present on Gigabyte's G1.Sniper 5, the review of which can be found here.
The difference between the new G1.Sniper Z5S and the previous G1.Sniper Z5 is the number of PCI-Express slots; the Z5 has a PCI-e 3.0 x16 slot with sixteen lanes, and a second one with four lanes. Additionally, two PCI-Express x1 and two PCI-slots are present. The new Z5S has three PCI-e 3.0 x16 slots with respectively 16, 8 and 4 lanes. This board also has four PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots.
Gigabyte is likely to introduce its new Sniper motherboards at CES, which takes place in San Francisco over the coming week.
